Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the knowledge of hypertension prevention among the residents of Phuc Tien commune, Phu Xuyen district, Ha Noi in 2023 and some related factors. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 420 residents of Phuc Tien commune, Phu Xuyen district, Ha Noi from April to September 2023, using a simple random sampling method. Data was collected using a structured interviewer-guided questionnaire. Results/ Discussions: The findings indicate that 65.2% of the population in Phuc Tien commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi, possess a good understanding of hypertension. Among these, the proportion of residents with the highest correct knowledge is about where to seek treatment for hypertension (100%), followed by the concept of hypertension (76.9%), the symptoms of hypertension (67.1%), blood pressure monitoring methods (63.6%), lifestyle adjustments (63.3%), consequences of hypertension (62.9%), and the lowest is regarding the causes of hypertension (62.4%). Some factors related to people's knowledge of hypertension prevention include gender and educational level. Conclusions/Recommendations: The study strongly suggested further research to better understand the potential relationship between resident's knowledge of hypertension prevention and other factors such as age, ethnicity, occupation, marital status, and average income.
