THE WIDTH OF THE ATTACHED GINGIVA IN FEMALE ADULTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
The attached gingiva is continuous with the marginal gingiva. It is firm and tightly bound to the underlying periosteum of alveolar bone. The facial aspect of the attached gingiva extends to the relatively loose and movable alveolar mucosa, from which it is demancated by the mucogingival junction. The attached gingiva has important role protecting other periodontal tissues. Our research on the attached gingiva in female adults shows that: - In the upper dental arch, the width of the attached gingiva is smallest at facial-mid position. In the lower dental arch, the width of the attached gingiva reduced from anterior teeth to posterior teeth. - In both two dental arches, the width of the facial attached gingiva changes from 1,55 ±0,20mm to 3,75 ±0,41mm.
