THE ENDOSCOPIC, HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS, AND RESULTS OF ENDOSCOPIC POLYPECTOMY WITH PROPHYLACTIC CLIPPING OF SEMI-PEDUNCULATED COLORECTAL POLYPS

Abstract
Background: Endoscopic polypectomy of semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps has a risk of bleeding. Objectives: Describe the endoscopic image characteristics, histopathology and results of endoscopic polypectomy of semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps with prophylactic clips. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 85 patients with semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps. All semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps were endoscopic polypectomy with prophylactic clips, and polyps were taken for histopathological examination. Results: 76 patients with endoscopy had 92 semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps with a polyp head size ≥10 mm. The rate of neoplastic polyps was higher than that of non-neoplastic polyps, 59.7% and 41.3%, respectively. All semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps were successfully endoscopic polypectomy and prophylactic clip. No patients had early or late bleeding complications. Conclusion: The endoscopic polypectomy of semi-pedunculated colorectal polyps combined with prophylactic clipping is effective in preventing both early and late bleeding.
