Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that develop from the uterine muscle and are the most common type of tumor found in women of reproductive age. Uterine fibroids can have adverse effects on pregnancy and the fetus. Objectives: To evaluate pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with uterine fibroids who give birth at Can Tho Central General Hospital from 2023 to 2025. Materials and method: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 48 pregnant women diagnosed with uterine fibroids during pregnancy. These women were followed up to assess labor characteristics and pregnancy outcomes at Can Tho Central General Hospital. Results: The gestational age at delivery ranged from 37 to less than 39 weeks in 58.3% of cases; the rates of miscarriage and stillbirth were 0%; the preterm labor threat rate was 14.6%. The cesarean section rate was 87.5%, with 9.5% due to obstructive fibroids. Labor arrest occurred in 16.7% of cases, abnormal fetal presentation in 7.1%, and postpartum hemorrhage in 6.3%. The neonatal birth weight ranged from 2500 to 3500 grams in 77.1% of cases. Conclusion: Pregnancy with uterine fibroids is associated with a high cesarean section rate. However, pregnancy outcomes were generally favorable, with a low incidence of complications and a low rate of low birth weight infants.
