INJURIES IN THE ELDERLY TREATED AT MEDICAL FACILITIES IN NAM DINH PROVINCE (2018 - 2022)

Abstract
Objective: Describe the current situation of trauma in the elderly treated at medical facilities in Nam Dinh province in the period of 2018-2022. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive research design. The research subjects are the medical records of the elderly treated from 2018-2022 at 21 medical facilities from district level and above in Nam Dinh province. Results: The rate of trauma in the age group of 60-<80 years old is 30.2% (2019); Secondary education or below is 66.3%. Men are more injured than women and the highest is 53.8% (2022); Skull, skull base, cheekbone and facial fractures are 60.7%; Damage to blood vessels, spinal nerves is 94.2%; Rib fractures, multiple ribs, thoracic vertebrae are collapsed 91.7%; Open wounds of the abdomen, waist and pelvis are 56.8%; Injuries to blood vessels and nerves in the shoulder and arm area, and fingers 62.8%. Inpatient treatment for injuries to blood vessels and nerves in the thoracic spine 94.2%; open wounds 92.5%. Abdominal, lumbar, chest and thoracic injuries 34.6% (2018); Chest and thoracic injuries 30.5% (2019); Multiple injuries 22.3% (2020); Upper limb injuries 14.6% (2021); Lower limb injuries 20.9% (2022). Conclusion: The rate of abdominal, lumbar, chest and thoracic injuries in the elderly is still quite high; injuries to limbs and head, face and neck are controlled. Identify the current status of injuries in the elderly to plan response and adaptation in the coming time.
