DIAPHRAGMATIC HERNIA AFTER MINIMALLY INVASIVE ESOPHAGECTOMY AND A LITERATURE REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
Minimally invasive techniques for performing esophagectomy have been developed over the last decade, and techniques continue to be refined. The proposed advantages of minimally invasive approaches are reduced post operative pain, and more rapid recovery following esophagectomy. Diaphragmatic hernia after minimally invasive esophagectomy is an uncommon complication, although it has been described previously. In our case report, we describe the development of a major diaphragmatic hernia after esophagectomy performed using a combined laparoscopic and thoracoscopic approach.
