PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF PHACOEMULSIFICATION COMBINED WITH ISTENT INJECT TRABECULAR IN THE TREATMENT OF OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the early outcomes and safety of combined phacoemulsification and iStent inject implantation in patients with open-angle glaucoma. Methods: A prospective interventional study was conducted on 10 eyes of 10 patients with primary or secondary open-angle glaucoma and cataract. All underwent combined Phaco and iStent inject at Ha Noi Eye Hospital. Data collected: IOP, visual acuity, medications, VF, RNFL and complications. Results: Mean pre-op IOP was 25.80 ± 3.12 mmHg, reduced to 16.40 ± 1.58 mmHg at 3 months (p<0.05). Medication usage dropped from 2.2 to 0.5. 100% of eyes reached IOP ≤18 mmHg, 60% were medication-free. Visual acuity improved in 90% of patients. No serious complications were recorded. Conclusion: Phaco combined with iStent inject is a safe and effective approach in treating open-angle glaucoma with cataract, offering IOP reduction, fewer medications and better vision.
