Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of active tuberculosis screening and the outcomes of the latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) treatment program among people living with HIV at the Binh Thuan Provincial Center for Disease Control in 2024. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study. Results: All patients (100%) underwent chest X-ray and were indicated for tuberculosis and LTBI treatment. A total of 80.5% of patients received screening; 13,5% tested positive for TB through screening; 77.8% agreed to receive tuberculosis treatment. Prior to treatment, 81.7% of patients had their medical history taken, 55.1% underwent liver function tests, and 87.5% received counseling from healthcare staff. Adverse drug reactions were reported in 0.5% of cases. The treatment completion rate was 53.4%, while 46.1% were still undergoing treatment. Conclusion: The LTBI detection and treatment program for people living with HIV has shown positive results. However, enhanced support and monitoring are required to optimize treatment processes. It is also essential to strengthen training, counseling, medication management, and intersectoral coordination to improve LTBI detection and treatment, especially among people living with HIV.
