PULMONARY ALVEOLAR MICROLITHIASIS: A CASE REPORT AT THE NATIONAL LUNG HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Case report: A 71-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital due to dyspnea. His illness had progressed over two weeks with symptoms of productive cough with white sputum, no hemoptysis, and worsening shortness of breath on exertion. He initially sought examination and treatment at a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia with suspected pneumoconiosis, and was then transferred to the National Lung Hospital for further diagnosis and treatment. Chest computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed diffuse ground-glass opacities in the lung parenchyma with calcifications. Tests for bacteria, fungi, and tuberculosis were negative. The patient underwent a lung biopsy under CT guidance, and histopathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM).
