SOME FACTORS RELATED TO THE ATTITUDE TOWARD COMPLICATION PREVENTION IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES UNDERGOING OUTPATIENT TREATMENT AT NAM DINH PROVINCIAL ENDOCRINOLOGY HOSPITAL IN 2024

Abstract
Objective: Identify factors related to the attitude towards preventing complications in outpatients with type 2 diabetes at Nam Dinh Provincial Endocrinology Hospital. Methods: A descriptive study involving 294 outpatients with type 2 diabetes at Nam Dinh Provincial Endocrinology Hospital from February to April 2024. Results: 45.9% of patients had a positive attitude, while 54.1% had a less positive attitude towards preventing complications of type 2 diabetes. The overall average score for positive attitude assessment was 13.70 ± 3.6 out of a total of 20 points. The highest score for patients with a positive attitude was 20 points, and the lowest was 4 points. Knowledge, age, education level, family economic status, family history, and sources of information all influenced patients' attitudes (p<0.05). Patients with correct knowledge about preventing diabetes complications had a 1.653 times higher likelihood of having a positive attitude compared to those with incorrect knowledge (p<0.05). Conclusion: The attitude towards preventing complications of diabetes among patients in the study was not positive.
