SOME PARACLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN PATIENTS WITH NUMMULAR ECZEMA

Abstract
Nummular eczema is a common inflammatory skin disease that occurs in all age groups, characterized by round or oval erythematous plaques with well-defined borders, often accompanied by vesicles and crusts. This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to describe several paraclinical characteristics in patients with nummular eczema through complete blood count, blood biochemistry tests, and total serum IgE levels. The study was conducted on 82 patients from November 2024 to August 2025 at the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology. Total serum IgE concentration was measured using the electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) method on the Roche-Cobas E411 analyzer. The results showed that 46.3% of patients were male and 53.7% were female; the median age was 19 [11.75-34.5] years, with the youngest being 1 year old and the oldest 73 years old. Most paraclinical parameters were within normal ranges. Leukocytosis was recorded in 21% of cases, with a median value of 8.1 [6.95-9.15] G/L. Eosinophilia accounted for 14.8%. Normal hemoglobin levels were found in 95.1% of patients; elevated hemoglobin was observed in 1.2%, and decreased hemoglobin in 3.7%. The proportions of elevated AST and ALT were 6.4% and 7.7%, respectively, with median AST of 24.95 [20.45-30.23] U/L and ALT of 14.75 [11.68-24.48] U/L. Increased serum IgE levels were found in 75.7% of patients, with a median value of 298.3 [107.78-1131] IU/mL. There was a correlation between serum IgE levels and disease lesion severity.
