Abstract

Background: Pregnant women’s medical adherence might have a heavy influence on the the oral glucose tolerance test result. Acording to the percentage of women complying with the procedure and the steps that they often carried out falsely, The development of indirect means of communication or traditional print media to guide mothers through the procedure is considerably essential. Objective: Determine the percentage of pregnant women who strictly followed the procedure of the oral glucose tolerance test with 75g glucose in Tu Du Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 140 pregnant women who underwent a glucose tolerance test of 75 grams - 2 hours orally in Tu Du hospital from January to April in 2023. Techniques for gathering data are observation and interviews, which are based on the data collection tool. Results: The proportion of women who correctly took every steps of the 75gram - 2 hour oral glucose tolerance test was about 16.4%. The steps that were often performed incorrectly were the administration of a standardized oral glucose load, the time of blood glucose testing, and their over walking instead of being partly inactive during the test, with the rates of 30.7%, 16.5% and 69.3%, respectively. Conclusion: Develope print media, such as leaflets to guide pregnant women.
