Abstract

Mortality statistics provide evidence to identify priority healthcare issues; choosing to implement interventional health programs, etc. Currently, the pattern of causes of death has changed, with the increase of the non-communicable diseases, especially the group of cardiovascular diseases and injury. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted was conducted to describe mortality due to cardiovascular diseases and injury in Dien Bien province. The study recorded 2.856 deaths. 25.2% of deaths were due to cardiovascular diseases. The most common causes are stroke (14.5%) and congestive heart failure (6.6%). Injury-related deaths account for 14%, which is due to drowning, traffic accidents and suicide. It is necessary to implement a program to manage cardiovascular patients and intervention programs to reduce the rate of death from injury.
