SURVEY OF CAUSES, CLINICAL OF LARYNGOTRACHEAL STENOSIS IN HCMC EAR NOSE THROAT HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: Survey of causes, clinical characterisitics laryngotracheal stenosis at HCM ENT Hospital. Method: retrospective and prespective cross-sectional description studies on case series. Study subject: 29 cases of laryngotracheal stenosis treated at HCM ENT from January 2019 to February 2022. Results: Among 29 cases, the most common causes for laryngotracheal stenosis were endotracheal intubation and tracheaostomy, which were relevent to 41.4% and 27.6%, respectively. Other reasons including closed tracheal trauma (10.3%), infection diseases (13.8%) and tracheal endoscopy (10.3%). The proportion of larygotracheal stenosis was higher in men than that in women, which were 69% (20/29 cases) and 31% (9/29 cases), respectively. In regard to addmision symptoms, apnea was the most common accouting for 41.4 of all the cases; followed by difficult withdawal of tracheal tube after endotracheal intubation or tracheostomy (20.7%); and finally, hoarseness accounted for the least proportion, which was 3.4%. Conclusion: Laryngotracheal stenosis were mostly caused by endotracheal intubation and tracheostomy, and was mostly occured in men. Common clinical symptoms were apnea and difficult withdrawal of tracheal tube after endotracheal intubation or Tracheostomy.
