Abstract
Background: In implants, the technique of "socket shield" or root membrane will help preserve the periodontal ligament, thereby helping to limit or prevent bone loss and shrinkage of related soft tissues. Objectives: To evaluate the results of implant restoration in the aesthetic area using socket-shield technique at the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, 2022-2023. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on a total of 31 maxillary anterior teeth with esthetic roots of 22 patients ≥ 18 years old at the Hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Results: The main cause of implant surgery was dental trauma (51.6%) and toothache (48.4%). Clinical results did not record complications during and after surgery. After 2 weeks of surgery, after 3 months and 6 months, the durability and retention of 100% impant achieved good results. According to the PES index, the soft tissue condition in the teeth had a score of 12-14, which was good. Aesthetic assessment according to ICAI criteria, beauty accounted for 70.9%, the rest was satisfaction level of 29.1%. In terms of function: 100% of teeth had good chewing function, bite, contact and opposing teeth condition. However, in terms of aesthetics, 3.2% of teeth were slightly discolored; 9.7% of teeth with contour shape were assessed as less harmonious; 3.2% of teeth had an average fit of crowns and gums. Conclusion: It was necessary to follow up for a longer time to comprehensively evaluate the results of implant placement by socket-shield technique on the maxillary anterior group of teeth.
