Abstract

Chronic subdural hematoma is one of the most common diseases in neurosurgical. Single burr-hole hematoma evacuation with closed-system drainage is a safe and effective method in treating chronic subdural hematoma. Ipsilateral acute subdural hematoma or recurrence of hematoma are documented complication. However, contralateral acute subdural hematoma after chronic subdural hematoma surgery has been reported to be a rare but dangerous complication. Here in, we report a case of contralateral acute subdural hematoma following burr-hole crainiostomy. The pathophysiological mechanism of this complication was discussed.
