Abstract

Objective: study the indication of thyroid lobectomy resection surgery to treat differentiated carcinoma thyroid cancer (low – risk thyroid cancer) at Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study of 40 patients with differentiated carcinoma thyroid cancer treated at Thai Binh general hospital. Results: The mean age of patients was 50.7 ± 8.1 years old; The female/male ratio is 5/1; The time to detect the disease under 6 months was 63.3% , from 6 -12 months was 30.0% and >12 months was 6.7%; The average time from the first symptom to surgery was 5.3 ± 1.2 month; Characteristics of thyroid tumors on ultrasound: TIRADS 5 was the highest with 66.7% , The average thyroid tumor size on ultrasound was 0.67 ± 0.22 cm , right lobe tumors was 56.7%, left lobe tumors was 43.3%; 100% patients undergone fine needle aspiration before surgery; Pathological result: papillary carcinoma was 90.0%, follicular carcinoma was 14.1%. Conclusion: Research results showed that: The average thyroid tumor size on ultrasound was 0.67 ± 0.22 cm, right lobe tumors was 56.7%, left lobe tumors was 43.3%; papillary thyroid cancer: follicular thyroid cancer ratio was 90.0%.
