Abstract

Background: Hemiplegia after stroke greatly and directly affects the ability to perform daily activities as well as the ability to reintegrate into community life. Objectives: Survey the current situation of hemiplegia due to cerebral stroke at the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, Ho Chi Minh city hospital for rehabilitation - professional diseases. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on the total population 138 patients treated inpatient at the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, Ho Chi Minh city hospital for rehabilitation - professional diseases. Results: Average age is 65.64 ± 9.08. Male gender predominates with 71.0%. 47.8% of patients had a stroke > 12 weeks, 89.1% had a first-time stroke. 84.1% of patients have cerebral infarction, hypertension is the most common risk factor (68.8%), 50.7% of patients have level I (Henry) paralysis, the most common sequela is confusion. sleep (59.4%), 97.2% of patients were discharged from the hospital in improved condition. Conclusions: It is necessary to improve communication and health education for patients and their families in good control of risk factors as well as underlying diseases to prevent recurrent strokes.
