SCREENING RESULTS FOR STRESS, ANXIETY, AND DEPRESSION USING DASS-21 AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN LONG BINH, AN GIANG PROVINCE, 2024

Abstract

Objective: Describe the results of screening for anxiety, depression, and stress using the DASS-21 in Long Binh high school students, An Giang province in 2024. Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study, using the DASS-21 assessment scale to screen for signs of anxiety, depression, and stress for 366 Long Binh high school students, An Giang province in June 2024. Results: 61.2% of students showed signs of anxiety (mild 9.3%, moderate 24.0%, severe 12.6%, and very severe 15.3%). 47.3% of students showed signs of depression (mild 15.8%, moderate 18.0%, severe 8.5%, and very severe 4.9%). 38.0% of students showed signs of stress (mild 12.8%, moderate 16.4%, severe 11.5% and very severe 4.9%). 28.1% of students showed no signs of stress, anxiety or depression; 24.6% of students showed 1 symptom; 20.0% of students showed 2 symptoms and 27.3% of students showed all 3 symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. Conclusion: Symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress in high school students are quite common but mainly at moderate and mild levels. More attention should be paid to mental health care for high school students.
