SUMMARYSTUDY ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF OUT-OF-HOSPITAL CARDIAC ARREST EMERGENCY CARE AT E HOSPITAL IN 2024
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a critical emergency condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating effectively. If not treated promptly, it can lead to rapid death. This study aims to assess the current status of OHCA emergency management at E Hospital in 2024. Objectives: Describe the circumstances, causes, and associated factors of OHCA at E Hospital in 2024. Evaluate the effectiveness of OHCA emergency management at E Hospital in 2024. Methods: A descriptive case series study was conducted on 39 patients diagnosed with OHCA who were treated at E Hospital from January to November 2024. Results: The average age of patients was 61.0 ± 18.7 years, with the majority over 70 years old (38.5%). OHCA predominantly occurred at home (53.9%) and was witnessed in 82.1% of cases. Emergency interventions included cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in 93.8% of cases with witnesses, and defibrillation in 20.5%. The return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was achieved in 46.2% of patients; however, the survival rate upon discharge was only 7.7%. Conclusion: The study highlights the high mortality rate of OHCA, the need for improved emergency response times, and the importance of improving CPR training in the community as well as optimizing the emergency system with Coordinaton center provides on-site first air guidance.
