SOME FACTORS AFFECTING SURGICAL RESULTS OF RUPTURED MIDDLE CEREBRAL ARTERY ANEURYSMS

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the influence of clinical, paraclinical, and surgical factors on the treatment outcomes of ruptured middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms. Methods: A retrospective and prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with ruptured MCA aneurysms who underwent surgical treatment at Bach Mai Hospital from January 2023 to February 2025. Results and conclusion: A total of 99 patients with ruptured MCA aneurysms were surgically treated. Favorable outcomes were significantly associated with younger age, good preoperative clinical condition, lower Fisher grade on CT, hematoma volume less than 31 ml, midline shift less than 4.5 mm, smaller aneurysm sac size, absence of intraoperative aneurysm rupture, and no use of temporary parent artery clipping during surgery.
