Bảo quản lạnh sâu mô dây rốn nguyên khối được xem là một giải pháp tối ưu giúp lưu trữ lâu dài nguồn cung cấp tế bào gốc trung mô giàu tiềm năng cho y học tái tạo. Nghiên cứu này thực hiện nhằm đánh giá và so sánh ảnh hưởng của hai kích thước xử lý mô (1×1×1 mm và 5×2×2 mm) kết hợp với hai loại dung dịch bảo quản (môi trường thương mại và huyết tương máu dây rốn, cùng bổ sung 10% DMSO) đến hiệu quả bảo quản lạnh sâu mô dây rốn. Kết quả cho thấy tế bào gốc trung mô được phân lập thành công từ tất cả các mẫu mô bảo quản lạnh được rã đông tại các mốc 1, 3 và 6 tháng, đồng thời duy trì nguyên vẹn các đặc tính sinh học (hình thái, động học tăng trưởng, kiểu hình miễn dịch và khả năng biệt hóa) tương đương với mẫu đối chứng tươi (p > 0,05). Nghiên cứu này đã chứng minh tính an toàn và hiệu quả của các phương pháp bảo quản lạnh thử nghiệm, đặt cơ sở cho việc lưu trữ dài hạn mô dây rốn tại các ngân hàng mô.
