Mục tiêu: Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá sự thay đổi kích thước đường thở trên phim sọ nghiêng trước và sau điều nắn chỉnh răng có nhổ 4 răng hàm nhỏ ở người bệnh vẩu hai hàm.
Đối tượng và phương pháp: Nghiên cứu hồi cứu trên 32 phim sọ nghiêng của 16 người bệnh hô hai hàm, sai khớp cắn loại I bằng điều trị chỉnh nha có nhổ 4 răng hàm nhỏ vĩnh viễn trên và dưới, sử dụng phương pháp neo chặn tuyệt đối (cắm minivis) tại Trung tâm Kỹ thuật cao Khám chữa bệnh Răng Hàm Mặt – trường Đại học Y Hà Nội và khoa Nắn chỉnh răng – Bệnh viện Răng Hàm Mặt Trung ương Hà Nội. Kích thước đường thở vùng hầu mũi, hầu miệng và hầu thanh quản được đo trên phim sọ nghiêng trước và sau điều trị.
Kết quả: Vùng hầu miệng (SPAS; MAS; IAS) và hầu thanh quản (LPW-Eb) sau điều trị đều giảm có ý nghĩa thống kê (p < 0,01), trong khi vùng hầu mũi không có sự thay đổi. Cụ thể, SPAS giảm 1,27 ± 1,24 mm, MPS giảm 0.87 ± 1.09 mm, IAS giảm 1,52 ± 1,32 mm, LPW-Eb giảm 1,88 ± 2,09 mm.
Kết luận: Điều trị nhổ 4 răng hàm nhỏ kết hợp neo chặn tối đa làm giảm đáng kể kích thước đường thở vùng hầu miệng và hầu thanh quản trên phim sọ nghiêng ở người bệnh hô hai hàm, sai khớp cắn loại I.
