Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the tubercle bacillus, which is transmitted through the respiratory tract. Worldwide, each year, TB records more than 10 million new cases, and is one of the 10 leading causes of death (above HIV/AIDS). Currently, Vietnam is one of the countries in the world with a high prevalence of tuberculosis. This leads to an urgent need to deploy a nationwide TB prevention program to effectively prevent, detect and treat cases. In which, improving knowledge and practice for doctors at commune health stations about TB treatment is one of the most prioritized contents. Objective: To study some factors related to the knowledge of tuberculosis among doctors working at communal health centers in some northern provinces in 2020. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study to determine some factors related to knowledge about TB prevention of 335 doctors working at communal health centers participating in the study. The implementation period is from September 2019 to October 2020. Information was collected through self-completed questionnaires. Results: The average age of the study participants was 40.3 ± 9.2 years, the working seniority was 15.3 ± 9.2 years and the male/female ratio was equivalent to 1:1. Research results show that: doctors who have participated in TB training courses are 1.68 times more likely to answer correctly over 70% of the questions than doctors who do not participate in the training (aOR =1.68; 95%CI= 1.047-2.712).
