Abstract

Objectives: to assess the prevalence of frailty syndrome and some related factors among older patients with acute ischemic stroke. Subject and method: The study included 120 participants aged 60 years or older with acute ischemic stroke who were hospitalized within 24 hours of symptom onset and treated at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital. Results: The mean age of the patients was 72.37 years, 56.6% were male. The prevalence of frailty syndrome was 32.5%. There was no statistically significant relationship between frailty syndrome and age and gender. There was a statistically significant association between frailty syndrome and body mass index, marital status. Conclusion: Frailty syndrome is a common syndrome in older patients with acute ischemic stroke, especially those with divorce/widow status and body mass index <18. 5. Therefore, it is necessary to routinely screen for the frailty syndrome in this group.
