Abstract

Objective: Aim of this study was to evaluate some characteristics of the gout patients with nohealing ulcers. Subjects and methods: 75 Gout patients with nohealing ulcers hospitalized at Wound healing center, National Burn Hospital from October, 2022 to September, 2023. These patients were evaluated some information related to anthropology, co-morbilities and wound site within 24h after admission. Results: 100% of patients were male, average age was 54.63 ± 25 years, Gout duration was 7.7± 2.11 years, 92% of patients had a blood-related family member with Gout. 46.67% of patients had unhealthy habits (Alcoholism, smoking addiction). 73.33% of patients had co-morbilities. 30.67% of patients used corticosteroids and 26.67% of patients did not use any medication. Nonhealing ulcers usually appeared on lower extremities (60.42%) and patients often had two ulcers (52%). In the first 24 hours after admission, ulcers had excessive exudate (44.79%), miner (55.20%), acute inflammation (41.67%), Tophaceous (79.17%), necrosis (40,63%). Conclusion: The Gout patients with nohealing ulcers occurred mainly in males, had a direct genetic inheritance, unhealthy habits, using corticosteroids. Nonhealing ulcers usually appeared on lower extremities. The ulcer had typical features of a chronic wound.
