Abstract

Background: Medical incidents not only affect the patient's treatment results but also affect the quality of healthcare services, increase medical costs, and cause damage to the patient and the body. health department and national economy. Knowledge and attitudes increase the voluntary medical incident reporting behavior of healthcare workers. Subjects and research methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out from August to October 2022 on medical staff at Tu Du Hospital with the aim to research was determining knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and factors related of medical staff about voluntary medical incident reporting. Results: 60.18% of medical staff have good knowledge, 56.6% have a good attitude and 82.10% have good behavior about voluntary medical incident reporting. Factors related to voluntary medical incident reporting behavior are knowledge (R=0.123, p<0.01), attitude (R=0.115, p<0.05), and job position. (F = 3.01, p < 0.05). Conclusion: Regarding voluntary medical incident reporting, medical staff at Tu Du hospital have good knowledge at 60.18%, good attitude at 56.6%, and good behavior. Knowledge, attitudes, and work hours related to voluntary medical incident reporting behavior. There is a need for regular training programs and available documentation on medical incidents for medical staff.
