Abstract

Objective: Describe some characteristics of tumor markers in patients undergoing liver resection for Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) at K Hospital. Subjects and methods: Retrospective descriptive study on 33 patients undergoing surgery. Surgical hepatectomy with hepatic pedicle lymphadenectomy due to ICC at the Department of Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery - K Hospital from October 2021 to December 2023. Results: Male: female ratio: 0.8:1; Average age: 58.8 ± 11.1; Types of hepatectomy include: 14 right hepatectomy cases and 19 left hepatectomy cases; CA 19-9, AFP, CEA increased in 57.6%, 12.1% and 9.1% of cases, respectively; On CT scanner, 93.9% of patients had one tumor, 33.3% of patients had tumors > 5cm. The rate of increased CA 19-9 (24.3%) was 2.7 times higher than the normal CA 19-9 group (9.1%) in the group of patients with tumor size > 5cm and the group of patients with vascular invasion, with p value was both 0.278. Lymph node metastasis in patients with increased CA 19-9 (30.3%) was higher than in the group with normal CA 19-9 (15.2%), with p value was 0.335. Conclusion: CA 19-9, AFP, CEA increased in 57.6%, 12.1% and 9.1% of cases, respectively. CA 19-9 was increased in the group of patients with tumor size > 5cm, tumor infiltration, and lymph node metastasis, but the differences were not statistically significant with p > 0.05.
