Abstract

Background: Currently, alongside the positive aspects of students demonstrated through activities in youth organizations, community engagement, and school life, we can also observe negative issues. Especially concerning the rampant use of alcohol among students in Ho Chi Minh City. It's unclear when exactly alcohol - a stimulant with many negative health effects - became widely used by students and considered normal and widespread. The use of alcohol is a negative phenomenon, and students' consumption of it is even more concerning, alarming within today's student community. Ho Chi Minh City is facing the imminent danger of a red alert regarding the prevalence of alcohol consumption among students. Vietnam is in a period of integration and development, which has led to the expansion of various economic sectors. Restaurants, eateries, and bars are increasingly sprouting up, primarily concentrated around educational institutions and student residential areas. From lifestyle to cultural activities, it's not difficult to encounter images of students with indifferent attitudes, unhealthy lifestyles, and irresponsibility towards themselves and society, contrary to Vietnamese customs and traditions. They misuse alcohol excessively, leading to negative behaviors and perceptions of students within the city. This doesn't just affect the image of students in Ho Chi Minh City but also directly impacts those around them, notably in traffic safety issues and disruptions to social order. This is indeed a pressing issue garnering widespread attention, as evidenced by coverage in newspapers, social media, and news broadcasts with significant reach.
