Abstract

Object: to describe initial results of the application the bundle of care for prevention ventilation - acquired pneumonia (VAP) at the Intensive Care Unit of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital. Subjects and methods: A descriptive study was carried on 480 ventilated patients applicated bundle of care for ventilation - acquired pneumonia prevention at the Intensive Care Unit of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from June 2023 to November 2023. Result: overall rate of compliance with the bundle of care for ventilation - acquired pneumonia prevention was 76.6 %.  High compliance ≥80% was observed in hand hygiene, bed head elevation, oral decontamination, sedation arrestation, cuff pressure management, ventilator circuit management,  stress ulcer prophylaxis. Overall rate of compliance of bundle for VAP prevention in non – VAP group was 77.6 %, higher than that in VAP group (69.5%). Rate of VAP in group with compliance ≥ 70% was 5.1%, lower than that of group with compliance < 70% (40%). The average duration of ventilation and ICU stay in group with compliance ≥ 70% were 5.2±3.3 days and 7.2±4.5 days, lower than that of group with compliance <70% 6.2±3.3 days and 8.6±3.9 days, irrespectively. Conclusion: Compliance rate with the bundle of care for VAP prevention ≥ 70% helps to reduce the rate of VAP, average duration of ventilation, ICU stay.
