Abstract

Objectives: The study aim was to assessment of the knowledge regarding self-insulin administration and propose some solutions to improve self administration of injection insulin among diabetic outpatients at Medical examination department of Thanh Nhan Hospital Material and Method: 169 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are outpatients insulin therapy at Thanh Nhan Hospital's Medical Examination Department during the period from 2/2022 to 7/2022. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: The proportion of diabetes outpatients who have correct and incorrect knowledge about using Insulin is 57.8% and 42.2%, respectively. The rate of patients answering correctly ≥ 50% of the questions at the educational level < high school is 37.5%, lower than the college/university/university group (100%) and the high school group is 62.9%, the difference is not statistically significant, with p = 0.036 (< 0.05). Conclusions: The proportion of diabetics with correct knowledge about insulin use is still at an average level of 57.8%.
