A CASE REPORT: TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME IN CHILDREN WITH CHICKENPOX

Abstract

Introduction: Chickenpox is generally considered a benign disease, which can recover quickly in 7-10 days without causing any serious health problems. However, in some cases, chickenpox can cause complications such as secondary infection in the skin is the most common. Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) in children with chickenpox is one of the most serious, life-threatening, even fatal complications. We report a case of chickenpox children with complications of toxic shock syndrome. Case report: A male infant presented chickenpox at 53 days of age. Three days late, there were vesiculo-pustular, blistering lesions, and diffuse desquamation on his skin, with fever. The child manifested with toxic shock syndrome, multi-organ dysfunction, and death after 6 days of hospitalization.
