SURVEY ON ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION IN MALES WITH END STAGE KIDNEY DISEASE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To assess erectile dysfunction (ED) and its relationship with some clinical and paraclinical characteristics in men patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD). Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive uncontrolled study was conducted from April 2023 to October 2023 on 61 men diagnosed with ESKD, who were examined and treated at Military Hospital 103. Participants were males aged between 20 and 60. Evaluated erectile status using the IIEF scale. Results: The rate of ED in patients with ESKD was 78.7%; The rates of mild, moderate, and severe ED were 52.5%, 19.7%, and 6.5%, respectively. In the group of patients with ED, the average patient age was higher and the serum testosterone concentration was lower than the group without ED (specifically, 37.7 ± 8.8 versus 31.5 ± 5.9 years old; 335.9 ± 96.0 ng/dL versus 452.0 ± 187.9 ng/dL) with p = 0.017 and 0.001, respectively. Conclusion: The rate of ED in patients with ESKD was quite high. The older the age and the lower the serum testosterone concentration, the higher the frequency of ED.
