Abstract

Objectives: The study aim was to assessment of the practice regarding self-insulin administration and propose some solutions to improve self administration of injection insulin among diabetic outpatients at Medical examination department of Thanh Nhan Hospital. Material and Method: 169 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are outpatients insulin therapy at Thanh Nhan Hospital's Medical Examination Department during the period from 2/2022 to 7/2022. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: The proportion of patients who did not know how to inject and have poor technique was 31.3%, with adequate and optimal technique is 68.7%. The rate of correct injection practice among patients with correct knowledge in the group that answered > 50% of questions correctly was higher than the other group at 89.7% and 79.2% respectively, the difference was statistically significant. statistics with p = 0.04 (<0.05). Conclusions: The rate of patients who do not know how to inject and have poor technique is 31.3%, with adequate and optimal technique is 68.7%.
