ACTIVE MANAGEMENT RESULTS OF THE THIRD STAGE OF LABOR IN PREVENTION OF POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE AT THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the active management results of the third stage of labor in prevention of postpartum hemorrhage at the Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Thai Nguyen National Hospital in 2023. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 645 pregnant women who were monitored for vaginal delivery at the Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Thai Nguyen National Hospital, from March 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. Result: The average amount of blood loss during third stage of labor was 130.7±79.4ml. The average duration of third stage of labor was 6.7±1.9 minutes. The rate of uterine control was 65.6%. The rate of Oxytocin use wass 100.0%; additional Methylergometrine use was 31.2%; Duratocin was 17.8% and Misoprostol was 5.4%. The complication rate of retained placenta was 0.7%; uterine atony was 0.3% and uterine slow involution was 1.1%. Conclusion: Active management of third stage of labor in prevention of postpartum hemorrhage acchieved high results, need to be prescribed to shorten the time of placental abruption and reduce the rate of postpartum hemorrhage.
