Abstract

Objectives: To describe the characteristics of studies on transoral laser microsurgery in the treatment of glottic cancer; Overview of indications and effectiveness of treating glottis cancer with oral laser microsurgery. Subhects and methods: Thesis overview study was conducted on 39 studies searched from 3 databases: PubMed (MEDLINE), Web of science, and Embase. Results: Tumor control rate ranges from 62.3% to 96.8%. The laryngeal preservation rate during follow-up period ranged from 80.5% to 100%. The overall recurrence rate after the study period ranged from 3% to 36.6%. Speech and swallowing functions are 100% preserved. Quality of life after surgery is very good. Conclusion: Indications for transoral laser microsurgery for early-stage cervical cancer from Tis to T2. Limited studies with indications from T3 or higher, only 7/39 studies with indications from TM stage T3. Microsurgery is contraindicated for tumors that invade the posterior commissure or involve both arytenoid cartilages. The disease-free survival rate after follow-up period ranges from 74.3% to 100%.
