Abstract

Objective: To determine adverse events after the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Vero Cell (Sinopharm) among people vaccinated at the Hanoi Medical University vaccination site and some related factors, 2021-2022. Research subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 306 research subjects from December 2021 to March 2024. Results: the reaction rate after the 2nd injection, 2021-2022 was 16.7%. Adverse events following immunization of the 2nd dose of Vero Cell were mainly fatigue (12.1%), fever (10.1%), increased pain (5.2%), and reactions at the injection site (3.6%). These reactions occurred mainly between 1 and 24 hours after injection and usually resolved on their own within 24 hours. Age, occupation, and history of chronic disease of the study subjects were factors related to the rate of reactions after the 2nd injection of the Vero Cell vaccine (p<0.05). Conclusion: the Vero Cell (Sinopharm) vaccine to prevent COVID-19 was safe for vaccination. It was necessary to examine medical history carefully during screening before deciding to vaccinate.
