Abstract

Objective: Determination of positive serum for Toxocara canis duplication in people coming for testing in Hoa Hao – Medic Can Tho General Hospital from June 1, 2023 to November 30, 2023 and determine the proportion of people infected with Toxocara canis larvae requiring treatment (positive ELISA test, increased eosinophile, increased IgE) and some related factors. Methods: From 458 people who came for examination, they were interviewed with a questionnaire, collected venous blood samples, performed ELISA Toxocara canis test with Etimax 3000 machine, total blood cell analysis test, determined eosinophile index on blood machine. Sysmex XN1000 automatic learning and total IgE concentration testing on Alinity – Abbott machine. Results: The seropositivity rate for Toxocara canis larvae is 46,29%. The proportion of people seropositive for Toxocara canis larvae requiring treatment is 13,21%. Conclusion: The seropositivity rate for Toxocara canis larvae was 46,29% recorded in Hoa Hao – Medic Can Tho General Hospital. However, only 13,21% of people need treatment. Research results are the basis for considering and combining many factors such as epidemiology, eosinophile index, and IgE for doctors to decide on medication and is a premise for broader research in the residential community in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta.
