EVALUATION OF GRAFT ADHERENCE USING AUTOLOGOUS FIBRIN GLUE IN PTERYGIUM SURGERY

Abstract

Objective: To describe clinical signs of pterygium and evaluate the effectiveness of conjunctival graft fixation in pterygium treatment by autologous fibrin glue. Subject and method: Prospective descriptive no control study with clinical intervention in 30 eyes of 30 patients with pterygium in Hue Central Hopstital 2nd branch  form March 2023 to August 2023. Result: The mean age of patients was 54,36 ± 15,78. Outdoor working environment accounts for 93.3% and all reside in rural areas. The mean VA before and after surgery 1 week, 1 month, 3 months was in turn 0.57 ± 0.19; 0.68 ± 0.17; 0.70 ± 0.18; 0.71 ± 0.16. The mean astigmatism before and after surgery 1 week, 1 month, 3 months was in turn 1.58 ± 0.69; 1.02 ± 0.39 và 0.98 ± 0.36. All cases recovered the corneal surface well 1 month after surgery. Good aesthetic recovery of the grafting area after 1 week reached 93.33% and 100% after 1 month. Complication after surgery 1 week was only graft edema accounting for 6.67% and completely stabled after 1 month. Conclusion: Autologous fibrin glue has good graft fixation. This is a medically safe method. The patient no longer feels the irritation caused by the suture of the graft. Post-operative results were highly effective in terms of aesthetics and less complications
