CURRENT STATUS OF KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF PREGNANT WOMEN AFTER CANCER SURGERY FOR BREAST MASSAGE AT QUANG NGAI PROVINCE OBSTETRICS AND CHILDREN HOSPITAL IN 2023

Abstract

Objective: Describe the current status of knowledge and practice of mothers undergoing cesarean section regarding breast massage at the required treatment department, Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in 2023. Subjects and methods: Research Cross-sectional descriptive study on 136 post-cesarean section obstetric patients receiving breast massage and breastfeeding at the treatment department of Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital from September 2023 to November 2023. Results: The age of patients in the study was mainly in the age group ≤ 30 years old (accounting for 61.8%). Education level at junior high school or high school level accounts for the highest proportion (58.1%). The majority of pregnant women participating in research for the first time account for 63.2%. The majority of mothers have knowledge about breast massage after cesarean section, accounting for 79.3%. The source of information that brings most mothers about the benefits of breast massage is from medical staff (36.8%). The people who instruct mothers how to massage their breasts are mainly nurses and midwives at the hospital (100%). After breast massage in the hospital room, most mothers saw that their milk came in regularly (89.7%). Most mothers remember the basic steps of the breast massage process, and the ability of mothers to practice breast massage is very good at 98.3%.
