Abstract

Objective: Describe the current situation and some factors related to hearing loss in children aged 2-5 years in Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. Research subjects and methods: The study included 1818 children aged 2-5 years at preschools, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. Results: The rate of hearing loss in children aged 2-5 years in Ha Nam province is 5.67%. Hearing loss in both ears is the most common form of hearing loss, accounting for 93.2%. Hearing loss in only the left or right ear accounts for a low rate, 5.83% and 0.97% respectively. Premature babies, low birth weight, postnatal oxygen, abnormal postnatal jaundice that requires treatment, children with meningitis, and children with ear disease are factors related to hearing loss in children 2-5 years old. Conclusion: There is still a rate of hearing loss in preschool children. Premature birth, low birth weight, meningitis, and otitis media are factors that increase the risk of hearing loss in children.
