Abstract

Objective: Evaluating the value of NEWS2 and LqSOFA scores in the prognosis of sepsis patients in the Emergency Department. Subjects and Method: Descriptive study, conducted on sepsis patients at the Emergency Department of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from May to September 2023. Results: The 290 patients studied had an average age of 67.89 ± 16.87; 45.5% of patients had septic shock; mortality rate was 44.1%. Mean LqSOFA and NEWS2 scores were 3.07 ± 0.84 and 11.36 ± 3.61; mean scores of survival group were 2.77 ± 0.84 and 9.96 ± 3.55; death group were 3.45 ± 0.66 and 13.12 ± 2.85. AUC values of LqSOFA and NEWS2 scores in the prognosis of mortality: 0.722 and 0.757; septic shock: 0.717 and 0.751. Sensitivity and specificity of Lq SOFA >3 in the prognosis of mortality were 54.69% and 80.86%; Sensitivity and specificity of NEWS2 > 10 in the prognosis of mortality were 83.59% and 56.17%. The study showed that the LqSOFA and NEWS2 scores both had high predictive value for the prognosis of mortality than that of qSOFA, in which the NEWS2 score had a higher value.
