CURRENT ALIMENTATION STATUS OF POST-SURGICAL COLORECTAL CANCER PATIENTS AT VIETDUC UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN 2023

Abstract
Objective: To assess the alimentation status of patients after colorectal cancer surgery at Viet Duc University Hospital. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 86 colorectal cancer patients at Viet Duc University Hospital from May 2023 to March 2024. Results: After surgery, patients received parenteral nutrition for an average of 6.4 days. The time to start oral feeding is 2 days. The rate of patient’s nourishment meeting the energy requirement is low, reaching nearly 75% of the recommendation on the first day. In the following days, the energy provided to the patient gradually increases after 7 days but had not reached the recommended energy and macronutrients. Conclusion: The nutrition management of patients after colorectal cancer surgery has not met the nutritional recommendations criteria.
