APPLICATION OF mNUTRIC SCALE IN NUTRITION CLASSIFICATION IN VENTILATED CANCER PATIENTS AT EMERGENCY AND INTENSIVE CARE DEPARTMENT – VIETNAM NATIONAL CANCER HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: Classify nutritional risk according to the mNUTRIC scale in cancer patients on mechanical ventilation. Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study on 60 cancer patients at the Emergency and Intensive Care Department – Vietnam National Cancer Hospital with indications for mechanical ventilation, treatment time in the department over 24 hours, from March 2021 to December 2021. Results: The average age was 61.06 ± 12.6 years old, mainly in the age group 50 - 74 years old, accounting for 76.7%; The male/female ratio is 2.5/1; The main cause of requiring mechanical ventilation is sepsis, septic shock 50%, respiratory injury 46.7%; 56.7% of patients had ≥ 2 chronic diseases. mNUTRIC score in the group of patients < 50 years old is 5.01±1.2; 50-74 year old group is 6.15±2.03; ≥ 75 years old group is 6.9±2.1. The group of patients with high nutritional risk (mNUTRIC score 5-9) accounts for 70%, of which 73.8% are men. Patients on mechanical ventilation due to sepsis, septic shock have the highest nutritional risk of 57.1%. Conclusion: Most patients admitted to the ward requiring mechanical ventilation have high nutritional risk, high nutritional risk increases with age and male patients have more high nutritional risk than women.
