Main Article Content
Abstract
Aim of the study: Evaluation of the results of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in acute cholecystitis at Thanh Nhan Hospital. Patients and methods: A retrospective study of patients with acute cholecystitis who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the Department of General Surgery at Thanh Nhan Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022. Results: The mean age was 52.4 ± 15.3 years, with females/males is 2. Clinical symptoms: Pain localized to the right hypochondrium accounted for 86%, and a positive Murphy's sign was present in 22%. All patients had gallstones detected on imaging, with a large gallbladder and thickened wall in 93.3% and 80%, respectively. The majority of patients (67.3%) underwent surgery within 72 hours of symptom onset. The mean operative time was 93.45 ± 11 minutes. There were complications in 10% of cases, including one case of bile duct injury and one case of bleeding. The rate of conversion to laparotomy was 8%. The mean postoperative length of stay was 4.8 ± 1.8 days. Conclusion: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a safe and effective procedure. Early surgery increases the success rate of laparoscopic surgery, reduces intraoperative complications and postoperative complications, and shortens the length of hospital stay and treatment costs for patients.
