Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is a common condition in people with cirrhosis.Poor nutrition will make liver worse damage, affecting quality of life and survival time. The study aimed to describe the pathological characteristics and nutritional status of cirrhosis patients with hepatitis B. Methods: Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 32 cirrhosis patients due to hepatitis B treated as outpatients at Dong Da general hospital from November 2022 to July 2023. Results: Child-pugh A cirrhosis study subjects accounted for 84.4%. According to SGA, 43.7% of people with cirrhosis are at risk of mild, moderate and severe malnutrition. 46.9% of study subjects ate less than 4 meals/day. Patients classified as Child-pugh B cirrhosis in the group with good nutritional status are 11.1%, lower than in the group of patients at risk of mild, moderate and severe malnutrition (21.4%). Conclusion: The proportion of patients at risk of malnutrition is high, so nutritional assessment and early nutritional intervention play an important role in the treatment of patients with cirrhosis.
