Abstract

Objectives: Investigating the change of skin surface temperature while using auricular acupuncture (AA) at Knee point on healthy volunteers. Methods: An experimental crossover study with a control group was conducted on 80 healthy volunteers randomly assigned into two groups: Group A used  AA on Knee acupoint, and Group B used sham AA on Knee acupoint. After performing and stimulating the acupuncture every 5 minutes for 30 minutes, temperatures at the knee and ear are recorded and after the 30-minute acupuncture process. Results: After using AA at the Knee acupoint on the ear, the increase in knee area temperature on the same side of the acupoint was increased statistically significant comparing to before using AA. Conclusion: When using AA at the Knee acupoint on the ear, the temperature of the knee area on the same side of the acupoint has a statistically significant increase in temperature, which shows a close correlation between the Knee acupoint and the knee area.
