KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND PRACTICE RELATED TO DIABETES MELLITUS AMONG THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN WARD 6, DA LAT CITY - LAM DONG

Abstract

This study was conducted as a community-based cross-sectional study on 400 people in Ward 6, Da Lat City - Lam Dong to evaluate knowledge, attitudes, and practices on type 2 diabetes prevention of people in Ward 6, Da Lat City - Lam Dong 2024. Research variables: knowledge of type 2 diabetes prevention including 9 questions, attitude including 6 questions, practice including 9 questions. The study results showed that the proportion of participants with general knowledge and attitudes about type 2 diabetes prevention was 61.3%; and 76.5%. However, there was a significant gap between knowledge, attitude, and practice, the proportion of subjects who practice type 2 diabetes prevention was not high, accounting for 57.8%. Therefore, this study can be used as a baseline for diabetes awareness campaigns and modify the approach towards education on diabetes giving more emphasis on attitude, and practice change.
