TO EVALUATE THE RATE OF GASTROINTESTINAL BLEEDING AFTER ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE PATIENTS IN PHASE REHABILITATION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the rate of gastrointestinal bleeding after acute ischemic stroke patients in phase rehabilitation and describe describe some clinical characteristics of patients with gastrointestinal bleeding after ischemic stroke (GIB). Subject and methods: Prospective descriptive study on 393 patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke at the rehabilitation center of Bach Mai hospital from March 2023 to December 2023. Results: Average age 64.18±12.44, male gender accounts for 63.1%. The time from the patient's diagnosis of stroke and ischemic stroke to the indication for rehabilitation was 8.24±6.13 days. Patients had an average hospital stay of 22.05±7.45 days. The GIB rate is 7.9%, the most common site of bleeding is the stomach and esophagus. Patients with GIB after acute ischemic stroke have a higher rate of dysphagia, rate of nasogastric tube, time of gastric tube placement, rate of total anterior circulation infract, posterior circulation infract than the group without GIB with p < 0.05. Conclusion: The incidence of GIB at Bach Mai Hospital Rehabilitation Center is 7.9%.
