EVALUATE THE COMPLIANCE RATE OF PATIENT HANDOVER TASK AMONG NURSES AT THE CLINICAL DEPARTMENTS OF CITY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the compliance rate of patient handover by of the City Children's Hospital using the SBAR checklist and to explore related factors. Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted through observing 205 cases of patient handover by nurses using the SBAR model in clinical departments at the Children's Hospital. Results: The compliance rate of delivering patient handoff for each component of the SBAR including the Situation (S) of the patient recorded a compliance rate ranging from 52.7% to 92.2%. Background (B), the compliance rate ranged from 75.6% to 82.4%. Assessment (A), the compliance rate of complete and accurate handoff ranged from 60.5% to 91.2%. Recommendation (R), the compliance rate of complete and accurate delivery ranged from 71.2% to 83.9%. Conclusions: The level of compliance in following the steps of the SBAR handover process is quite differentiated, with some aspects achieving high effectiveness in correct implementation, while others have not shown high compliance.
